Art workshops are usually focused on particular topic, medium, style. They are usually suitable for adult artists of all abilities, whether you are a complete beginner looking to learn how to draw and paint or an amateur artist looking to improve your art. Art workshops are longer (4-6 hours), all art materials will be included.

Watercolour Fox workshop

Sunday 12th May 10am-4pm

Let's paint a watercolour portrait of the fox together. Come and enjoy working with bright watercolour paints, learn how to paint fur, whiskers, eyes on animals.

You will learn:

1) How to find a good reference picture and prepare yourself for this artwork. You will be provided with a line drawing and I will explain how you can paint and learn watercolour without  drawing skills. 

2) How to create a realistic-looking illustration of the fox, how to approach it and we will be painting it step-by-step starting light to dark, adding more and more details.

3) How to paint animalistic fur, ways of painting fur, direction of the fur and its saturation and colour representation, art supplies for it. How to add tonal values and volume with colours and tonal values

4) Colour harmony 

5) You will also learn the importance of tonal values, composition, how to identify the right colors from the reference picture to use and my other tips and tricks! This will be a step-by-step workshop painting a fox, starting with transferring an image onto good quality paper. You will be painting in several layers, slowly adding details and learning how to approach each step. I will also give you a list of my favourite art suppliers for watercolour paintings in a style I paint.

This is a beginner-friendly workshop, we will be painting in A4 size.

All art materials are supplied. Just bring yourself and a packed lunch.

Watercolour Hare Workshop Staffordshire - Walton Village Hall

Saturday 29th June 10am-4pm

Join us for a day learning day on how to paint a beautiful portrait of a hare using watercolour with Rita Gould. She is well known for her beautiful and detailed paintings of butterflies, insects, flowers, animals, toadstools etc. This in-person event will be held at Walton Village Hall, Green Gore Lane, Stafford, UK.

This workshop consists of learning a few watercolour techniques and painting step-by-step a main piece on A4 size, finishing it off with details.

What is included?

All materials and tools are provided for you and refreshments (Coffee,tea and cakes). By the end of your session, you will have a completed A4 size painting of a Hare.

Please, bring your packed lunch with you as this is not provided!

This workshop will be for everyone, even if you are a beginner.

Structure of the workshop

On this day you will be supplied with line drawing of the Hare, reference photos and Rita will teach you how to transfer it onto good quality paper, how to stretch watercolour paper, how to prepare your artwork and how to protect it. We will be learning about importance of tonal values, composition, colours, watercolour basics and Rita will take you through this step-by-step.

About your watercolour teacher

Rita Gould is a watercolour artist and a graphic designer based in Hednesford, Staffordshire, UK. Her watercolour and gouache illustrations are hand-drawn and show her immense love and passion for nature. She inspired by moths, plants, butterflies, gardens, childhood memories and many more. Rita’s illustrations are full of intricate details, colour, and texture. She brings all her passion into creating nature-themed stationary products like calendars, notepads, postcards, greeting cards, stickers, and art prints. Nowadays Rita is teaching watercolour online on www.patreon.com/RitaGould , developing her YouTube and Instagram channels and running a few real-time workshops in Staffordshire and West Midlands.
